Overview
The
ModuLogger is a modular, self-contained data logging and alarming
system designed for collecting data from field installed equipment
as well as for in-lab data collection. With its modular design
and lower cost packaging the ModuLogger is a perfect data
acquisition module for OEM's to integrate into their equipment for:
- Characterizing performance of field installed equipment
(appliance operation, pump loading, etc)
- Inventory, flow, temperature Reporting Systems
- Field equipment operational alarming (eg Overtemp, low
level, ...)
As a self-contained, battery or line-powered,
stand-alone unit, the ModuLogger can be deployed at a location
or incorporated into equipment where it silently samples digital
and analog inputs, storing them to internal or PCMCIA memory.
Easily programmed, the Modulogger has extremely powerful processing
capabilities for data reduction (averaging, min/max, etc) mathematical
manipulation (algebraic, trig, time integrals, etc), as well
as unlimited, User programmable, intelligent data logging capabilities.
With full differential, bi-polar instrumentation
amplified inputs (zap protected), programmable filtering, 13
to 18 bit analog to digital conversion, and sampling rates in
excess of 150 S/S, the ModuLogger is a true precision grade
data acquisition instrument.
In concert with Logic Beach's HyperWareT software,
the Modulogger is a powerful, fully User programmable data logging
and alarming system. The HyperWare software is a powerful multi-purpose
software package for use with the ModuloggerT. HyperWare facilitates
serial communications, Modulogger icon-based graphic programming,
real-time data trending, collected data graphic plotting and
data export to other applications...all within the Microsoft
WindowsT environment.
A ModuLogger data logging system consists
of the ModuLogger CPU Base, an assortment of stackable Interface
Modules (I/M's), the HyperWare Software and possibly other optional
equipment. The CPU Base Base consists of a two layer stack and
includes the electronics for the core of the data logger including
the main microcontroller, analog to digital conversion circuitry,
memory, real-time clock, a basic set of inputs and outputs and
associated support circuitry.
The Modulogger
consists of a User specified stack of ruggedly packaged, plug-together,
rectangular modules. To the main CPU module can be added communication,
additional analog input, digital I/O, display and memory expansion
modules to meet your specific application needs.
Interface Modules
ML-CPU Module
|
System Base - This double height
stack is required for all ModuLogger systems. To this
System Base can be added additional modules and options. The
ML-CPU includes four channels of analog input. Channels can
be individually field programmed to accept J, K, E, T, R, and
S type thermocouples, voltage up to 30Vdc and current up to
22mADC. |
Option -EXM
|
Memory Expansion - Expanded memory
option for the ModuLogger System Base. This factory option expands
internal logger memory from 16,000 samples to 80,000 samples. |
MLIM-1
|
Analog Input Module - Plug-on module
provides four channels of analog input. Channels can be individually
field programmed to accept J, K, E, T, R, and S type thermocouples,
Voltage up to 30Vdc and Current up to 22mADC. |
MLIM-2
|
Event / Count / Freq
I/O Module - Plug-on module provides four digital channels that
can be individually programmed as frequency, event, high-speed
counter inputs and four fixed TTL (0/5Vdc) outputs. |
MLIM-4
|
Resistance Input Module - Plug-on
module provides four channels that can be individually programmed
for resistance, RTD, or thermistor input. |
MLIM-5
|
Memory Card Module - Plug-on module
includes socket for removable memory cards. |
| MLIM-5-144 |
Plug-on module includes socket for
removable memory cards and integral low-power, plug and play
14.4Kbaud modem. (Modem does not use the memory card socket) |
MLIM-7
|
Isolated Analog Input Module - Plug-on
module provides four pairs of completely isolated channels of
analog input or 8 channels (4 pairs of 2 with shared common).
Channels can be individually field programmed to accept J, K,
E, T, R, and S type thermocouples, Voltage up to 30Vdc and current
up to 22mADC. MLIM-7 offers 18 bit resolution! |
MLIM-8
|
Digital I/O Module - Plug-in module
provides eight channels that can be individually programmed
as inputs (typically for event logging) or TTL outputs (0/5Vdc). |
ML-DISP
|
Display Module - Plug-on module
adds a two-line by 16 character liquid crystal display and relocates
User switches to the front panel. Displayable messages include
current readings, last stored data, User programmed messages,
and logger operational status. Module installs on top. Order
ML-TOP if display is not required. |
| ML-BATT |
Battery pack option. Includes 6 alkaline
D-Cells in holders, typically providing 1 to 3 months of autonomous
data logging. Order ML-BAK if batteries are not required. |
ML-PSM2
|
Power Supply Module - Plug-on module
that provides a low-power step up power supply for applications
requiring sensor or loop power/excitation greater than the ModuLogger's
internal 5Vdc source. The ML-PSM2 can provide 10, 15, or 24Vdc
excitation voltages stepped up from an external power source. |
ML-BATT-PSM2
|
Battery Pack and Power Supply Module
- ML-BATT combined with ML-PSM2. This module can logger power
and 10, 15, or 24Vdc excitation voltages stepped up from the
ModuLogger system batteries. Order ML-BAK if batteries are not
required. |

Ordering Information
|
Each item for the ModuLogger system is ordered separately.
Start with the ML-CPU or ML-CPU-EXM and add up to 5 additional
I/O interface modules, MLIM-1 through MLIM-8, for a system
specific to your application. The optional battery pack and
display do not count as any of the 5 additional modules. If
a battery pack and display are not required, order a ML-BAK
and ML-TOP respectively.
Order at least one Combo Pak. Multilogger users do not need
to order additional copies of the software, manuals and connectors.
These items may be shared between loggers.
